School/Community Service Project with Mardi Himal Trek is a 15-day educational tour for students. This program is specially designed for students where they can do a volunteering service in Nepal; along with volunteering, students get to experience culture and an adventurous trek towards Mardi Himal.
The main objective of this School/Community Service Project with Mardi Himal Trek is to engage students in meaningful community service projects in Nepal, contributing to the local community’s development and well-being. Students will also learn about the villagers’ lifestyles and challenges, fostering empathy and global awareness.
The program will begin in Kathmandu with an exploration of different UNESCO World Heritage sites around the city. After that, the itinerary will take students to Bandipur, where they will spend three days engaging in different volunteering activities such as painting classrooms, making necessary repairs, or participating in small construction work. After participating in
volunteering activities in Bandipur, students will head to Pokhara. They will visit a few sites in Pokhara, and then the Mardi Himal trek will start. The route to Mardi Himal Trek will be Phedi and trek to Deurali (2,100 m) – Forest Camp (2520m) – Lower Camp (2970m) – High Camp 3,540 m- Upper View Point (4,250m)- Lower Camp(2970m) – Australian Base Camp(2060m).
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, a representative from Amazing Himalaya Trekking will greet you and take you to your hotel. After checking in, enjoy lunch or dinner, followed by an orientation program. You will spend the night in Kathmandu.
Before starting with the School/Community Service Project and Mardi Himal Trek, we will do a full-day sightseeing tour in the Kathmandu Valley. We will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Bouddhanath Stupa. All the sites we visit today are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are famous tourist destinations.
Kathmandu Durbar Squares are a conglomerate of ancient courtyards, palaces, and temples that give glimpses of the life of the royals in ancient Nepal. It is also known as Basantapur. The highlight of Kathmandu Durbar Square is Kumari Ghar(home to the living goddess), Kal Bhairav Temple, the stunning temple of goddess Taleju Bhawani.
Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, is on top of a hill and has historical significance associated with the foundation of Kathmandu Valley. From the top of Swayambhunath, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the valley.
Baudhanath Stupa is one of the largest Stupas in the world. Strolling around the stupa, you will feel a spiritual vibe, with Buddhist monks chanting.
Another site we will visit is the Pashupatinath Temple, which is one of the most important sites of pilgrimage for all Hindus and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located on the bank of the Bagmati River, and devotees around the world visit here to offer their prayers.
After breakfast, we will head towards our next destination, Bandipur. Bandipur is 150 kilometers away from Kathmandu, and the drive will take around 5 hours. Enjoy scenic views along the way to Bandipur. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel. After lunch, there will be a guided stroll around the charming Bandipur Bazaar.
Bandipur is one of Nepal’s most charming towns, showcasing the rich heritage of Newari culture. This beautifully preserved village, perched on a high ridge, features traditional row houses along its main street. It offers a mix of traditional village architecture, stunning Himalayan views, scenic countryside walks, local adventure sports, and excellent accommodation. It’s an ideal spot to relax and experience rural Nepal, making it a perfect stop between Pokhara and Kathmandu.
After strolling around Bandipur, you will call it a day after enjoying a delicious dinner. Overnight stay at Bandipur
For three days, we will be engaged in a School/Community Service Project in Bandipur. The community service project includes painting classrooms, making necessary repairs, or participating in small construction work; these activities can have a positive and lasting impact on the community and school infrastructure.
In addition to the community service, you will have the opportunity to learn about the villagers’ lifestyles and challenges. Your efforts will not only improve the physical environment but also contribute to the overall well-being of the local community. Overall, this will be a lifelong learning experience that will stay with you forever.
After three days of a Community Service Project in Bandipur, our itinerary will take us to Pokhara. Pokhara, also known as the city of lakes, is only 75 kilometers away from Bandipur. After breakfast in Bandipur, we will head towards Pokhara, which will take us around 2.5 hours. We will drive through stunning landscapes offering stunning views of mountains, passing by peaceful villages.
Upon reaching Pokhara, you can get a close view of the mountain panorama of the Annapurna massif. From Pokhara, trekking trails of various regions start. After checking in, we will do a one-hour boat ride in Phewa Lake. Boating in Phewa Lake is both a peaceful and adventurous experience. You will witness Annapurna’s majestic views and the Fishtail mountain Machhapuchhre, along with the flying gliders in the sky above Sarangkot Hill. Overnight rest at a hotel in Pokhara.
After breakfast, you will drive towards Phedi, a half-hour drive from Pokhara. The trek starts from Phedi, taking you through rocky ravines, terraced farms, and forests. From Dhampus, you’ll walk towards Deurali. Perched on the ridge, Deurali is a beautiful village offering splendid views of Annapurna South, Mardi Himal, and Machapuchare. Overnight in Deurali
You will climb through lush forests to reach the Forest Camp. The forest is adorned with vibrant rhododendron plants – Nepal’s national flowers and get ready to come across rare species of birds along the trek.
Upon reaching Forest Camp, we will take some time to rest and rejuvenate. Later in the evening, we will explore the local popular tourist destination known as Khokar. After an enriching day of nature and exploration, we will spend the night at Forest Camp
On the tenth day of our Mardi Himal Trek, we will climb through a lush forest. Along the way, we will pass through a lush forest, captivated by the rich natural diversity surrounding us. The journey will lead us through vibrant greenery and diverse flora until we reach Low Camp. From there, we can witness a close view of the majestic Mt. Fishtail (Macchapuchhre).
After enjoying lunch, we will ascend to a higher altitude and witness nature unfolding before us. As we climb, the vegetation becomes less dense, revealing different species of plants and animals. One such rare species is the Daphne, the national bird of Nepal. Our trek will continue alongside a ridge, offering stunning views until we reach High Camp. We will spend the night at High Camp.
Today, you will climb to the Upper Viewpoint, offering a fascinating panorama of the mountains, including Mardi Himal (5587m), Baraha Shikhar (Mt. Fang) (7647m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Tent Peak (5695m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Singhachuli (6501m), Machapuchhre (6993m), and many more. The trek to Upper Viewpoint takes around 6 to 7 hours and is at an elevation of 4,250 meters.
After enjoying the breathtaking views of the Himalayas, you’ll descend back through pastures and along a steep, narrow ridge to the Lower Camp. You’ll spend the night in Lower Camp.
As you leave Lower Camp, you’ll trek through lush forests, serene pastures, and along well-trodden paths that offer glimpses of the surrounding mountains. Your route will take you through Deurali, a charming spot known for its breathtaking views and peaceful atmosphere.
The path to Australia Camp is a mix of gentle slopes and more challenging sections, ensuring an engaging and rewarding hike. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to interact with local villagers, experience their hospitality, and observe their daily routines. The Australian Base Camp itself is a popular stop for trekkers, known for its comfortable accommodations and stunning scenery. Here, you’ll have time to relax, unwind, and reflect on your journey. Overnight rest at Australian Base Camp.
Today is the last day of your Mardi Himal Trek. After breakfast, you’ll hike briefly for about 1.5 hours to Kande and then drive for about 1 hour to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.
After immersing ourselves in nature and gaining wonderful experiences, we will fly back to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will head toward Bhaktapur, another famous destination.
Bhaktapur is listed as a World Heritage site and is renowned for its stunning architecture and cultural heritage. In Bhaktapur Durbar Square, you can explore the ancient palaces, courtyards, and temples that make up this historic square. The intricate wood carvings and stone artworks reflect the city’s rich history. Visit the pottery market, admire the famous Peacock Window, an exquisite example of traditional Newar woodcraft, and not to forget the five-story Nyatapola Temple, Nepal’s tallest pagoda, known for its architectural beauty and historical significance.
Today is the last day of your School/Community Service Project with Mardi Himal Trek. We will have a half-day sightseeing program in Kathmandu, and we will visit the Narayanhiti Palace Museum. After visiting the Narayanhiti Palace Museum, enjoy lunch at the hotel, and you will be transferred to the Airport as per your flight schedule.
